Rain Garden: The Annex, Toronto
Design Process
Garden was built up from scratch. A short stone wall was built around the garden beds connecting into the water catchment system that was installed. The downspout drains into a tile bed of river stones that connects on a downward slope to the edge of the garden bed (SW corner). Beneficial in collecting the grey-water and allowing it to water and move through the space. Existing milkweed and peonies were left in place as this season (2019) was blessed with a bounty of Monarch Butterflies. I continued with the theme of pollinator gardens as it is quite important to create connecting corridors for pollinators, especially in a city landscape. Existing Dogwood and Japanese Maple as well were left. In the windowsill garden one can see water tolerant plants since it does get quite moist.
